Winter Solstice Paddle

Hey everyone, come out to Santa Margarita Lake Saturday 20 December for our 2nd Annual Winter Solstice Paddle! We can meet at 9 a.m. at the White Oak boat ramp. Bring your lunch and we'll picnic! The more, the merrier, let's see if we can get a big group out there to celebrate the 1st day of winter! Hey,Fred & Linda it'll be nice to paddle with you again. Glad you'll be able to make it. My friends from Santa Cruz are coming and a new couple I met at the Baywood Octoberfest said they'd be there too. It's just a few weeks away......Looking forward to meeting the TennesseeWanderer.... Hey Tiff, How's that new kayak? What were you able to finally find for yourself. You were very patient looking for the right one..... I met teamlevi at the Baywood Octoberfest and am looking forward to seeing him and his wife again. I never did get to meet her. We should have a good turn out. I'm hoping to see Marj too!!! as well as everybody else! Do you find this valuable? |

Well, it looks like I will not be able to attend this fun event. My work-contract will be finished around 12/17, and I then have to pack up and move again. Looks like I'm heading back to Tennessee. This area has been soooo much fun, and the paddling folk very friendly. I will dearly miss the central coast. Thanks everyone!

Hey ya' Victor!I got a Valley Avocet with a kevlar hull and glass deck in yellow and I am very jazzed! I love it! I wasn't as comfortable in the Slipstream I tried, and I couldn't find a Romany to demo, and everything about the Avocet just felt real good. Hope to see you on the water before the Solstice, but if not, definitely looking forward to seeing you then! Tiff Do you find this valuable? |

Hey Tiff,Great choice......The Slipstream is no comparison to the Avocet.......Slipstream is nice but the Avocet is much more nimble and responsive.....I can't wait to see it. I been riding a whole lot and don't really know when I'll be paddling for sure. The Solstice paddle is a sure thing though. I'll let you know if I get wet before then.... Congrads on the new boat. Thanks for the confirmation and congratulations, Victor! The salesguy almost had me talked into the Slipstream, and I was thinking I "should" get it, but Tom had some good advice for me and like you say, the Avocet is fun to paddle--very nimble indeed! It doesn't track like my Tern, but yowser, it sure turns easy. I haven't really tried or needed the skeg so don't know how that works yet. Keep on pedaling, but will see you on the 20th! Just a reminder that this Saturday is the Solstice Paddle. Come on out for it! It's supposed to be warmer than it's been these last few days so it should be very pretty up there.
