Stand UP Paddleboarding/surfingThis is a featured page

What is it? Take a custom long surfboard, add a really long canoe paddle and mix with an all over body workout and you've got SUP. The Hawaiians invented it on the beaches of Waikiki to keep an eye on tourists. Now it has been taken to the surf, and any other body of water.
Please post info and places you would like to paddle in this forum. The Central Coast has lots of coastline and some great lakes to paddle.
I will post pictures and useful links in the next few days, but in the meantime let's go paddling.
Here a few useful links to get you started or at least pointed in the right direction.
1. http://supsurfmag.com/ A great online magazine with some new stuff everyday.

seakayakca What a great race in santa barbara today! 1 Aug 16 2009, 4:13 PM EDT by h2onissa

I just got back from my first SUP race today. It was a benefit race for make a wish foundation. It was in conjuction with Wine and Roses, a hobie cat sailing event. Only 12 signed up but we all had fun and no matter what place you came in, you got a bottle of wine!

Stand up paddle sports of santa barbara were there to help out and had a few new race boards to try out. I took out my Laird 11' and came in 5th in my division. It was an up and back race around a buoy. I gambled by going through the kelp and lost that bet. Great race and thanks to all those you helped out. I am hoping they will come up for the Ken Harmount paddle on 9.12.09.

h2onissa SUP Demo Day? 2 Dec 19 2008, 12:49 AM EST by Bilbord99

Does anyone have plans for a demo day for stand up paddle boards? I was thinking it would be a nice way to introduce the sport for folks who were interested but didn't want to put out a lot of money before trying it out.

Just a thought.
