This isn't a particularly large lake in San Luis Obispo, but it gives you some beautiful views of San Luis Mountain and it's a decent bird-watching area. There is a boat ramp and a dock at the back of the park where you can put-in easily. The wind can get a bit fierce in the afternoons so mornings would be best.
