Pro sea kayaker Sean Morley will be presenting a free slide show and talk of his world record circumnavigation of Vancouver Island on Saturday June 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Shell Beach Veteran's Hall at 230 Leeward St.. Vancouver Island is the largest island of the NW Pacific and Sean completed the 2,136 miles in 17 days--awesome!

Kat and I are traveling down to Arroyo Burro Beach just north of Santa Barbara for a New Year's Day paddle. We'll do a very minor surf launch from the beach, paddle down to Santa Barbara Harbor and Stearn's Wharf, and then return to Arroyo Burro for a late lunch at the Brown Pelican Restaurant. The whole trip is about 10 miles and the wind and ocean swell down there is pretty much non-existent (nothing like our wind and swell here). Our plan is to be at the beach by about 9 a.m..

Hey everyone, come out to Santa Margarita Lake Saturday 20 December for our 2nd Annual Winter Solstice Paddle! We can meet at 9 a.m. at the White Oak boat ramp. Bring your lunch and we'll picnic! The more, the merrier, let's see if we can get a big group out there to celebrate the 1st day of winter! Well, the day before the 1st day ;-)

We are heading off to Hawaii on Thursday so if anyone would like to send us off with a nice central coast paddle?
Meet up at 5:30 and launch at 5:45 at the marina just south of the Embarcadero. Last week we had 6 people and it was a really good time.

My last chance to host an evening paddle for a while. Sunset is at 6:30 so launching at 5;45 from the boat launch just south of the Embarcadero in Morro Bay. The Moon should be at 90% and the tide will perfect for a leasurely float back to dock. I'm hoping some new friends will be joining us this time.

I've put in enough time paddling my boat on glass & light chop to be ready to learn how she "floats" in bigger water. Would anyone like to join me when there is the next big swell running??? My plan is to skirt the inside of Avila jetty then head north for a quarter mile or so. I'm interested to see how the boat weather cocks, then see how squirly she is in trailling seas.

Tim and I are paddling out of Old Port on Saturday 27 September if anyone would like to join us. We will probably be heading to and up the creek there at Avila and then paddling around Port San Luis after that as long as the wind stays down. We're meeting at 8:30.

Kathy, Doug, Victor, and I are planning on paddling from Old Port to Coast Guard Beach (the little one by the breakwater) to pick up trash there for the 24th Annual Coastal Clean-up Day on Saturday 20 September. We're thinking meet at Old Port at 9 a.m., paddle over, do some cleaning, have some lunch, and perhaps do some more paddling afterwards if the conditions are nice. Come join us!

I've just purchased a touring kayak and stopped by Pauls shop and asked if there was anyone regularly ocean paddling. He have me this website.
Anyway...I'm going to "try" to regularly paddle from the Avila "dog beach" ramp a couple mornings a week (7am +/-). Anyone care to join me??? I'm going for a fast 5 or 6 mile workout then off to work.

Full moon paddle on a Saturday for a change. 6:30 launch from the marina south of the embarcadero. Should be going against the tide out and a nice float back. Sunset is 7:13 so we should get the full advantage by launching early.
Hopefully I have met all criteria for getting some more of you to join in! Let's go have some fun.

Victor has this great idea to do a practice run for the Harmount this Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Launch is from Old Port Beach at 8:30 a.m. sharp, down to Pismo pier and back to land at Old Port. This makes it about a 12 mile paddle total, which is actually double the Harmount distance. Come join the group for all, or even part, of the trip.
Victor, if I get clearance from the doctor, I will definitely be there!

Poor Victor has been avatarless for a while now. Maybe we should all pitch in and find your most Victor appropriate photo/graphic and help this poor guy feel better while he recuperates.
Remember, it dosen't necessarily have to be appropriate just Victor appropriate. Can't wait to see what he chooses.

Is there anybody else up for this idea? I'm thinking some time this summer on a low wind and swell couple of days. And no fog unless you're a great navigator (I have zero compass skills outside of the desert). Paddle down, camp at Pt. Sal State Beach, paddle back the next morning.

This is great fun! I think it's the 15th year they've done this. It's scheduled for Saturday 13 September. You launch from Avila and land at Pismo and all sorts of folks paddle it--the stand up guys, all manner of kayaks, the paddleboard folks. It's a blast and the money raised goes for a good cause--the Junior Lifeguards. There's usually a raffle for neat stuff at the end when everyone reconvenes back at Avila. Victor, Doug, and I are definitely in again. Who else?! The surf launch at Avila is no big deal and there are folks at the end at Pismo to help with the surf landing. Doug and I did our first Harmount 2 months after we started kayaking and we managed it fine--it's only water, right?
