| h2onissa | Pre-Harmount Warm Up Paddle Saturday 30 August | 0 | Yesterday, 10:20 AM EDT by h2onissa | |||

Thread started: Yesterday, 10:20 AM EDT

Victor has this great idea to do a practice run for the Harmount this Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Launch is from Old Port Beach at 8:30 a.m. sharp, down to Pismo pier and back to land at Old Port. This makes it about a 12 mile paddle total, which is actually double the Harmount distance. Come join the group for all, or even part, of the trip.
Victor, if I get clearance from the doctor, I will definitely be there!

Full moon and the tide bringing us back home. Launch from the marina south of the embarcadero at 7 pm. We had a fantastic time last time out. Maybe with more people it could be a real blast!

Poor Victor has been avatarless for a while now. Maybe we should all pitch in and find your most Victor appropriate photo/graphic and help this poor guy feel better while he recuperates.
Remember, it dosen't necessarily have to be appropriate just Victor appropriate. Can't wait to see what he chooses.

Is there anybody else up for this idea? I'm thinking some time this summer on a low wind and swell couple of days. And no fog unless you're a great navigator (I have zero compass skills outside of the desert). Paddle down, camp at Pt. Sal State Beach, paddle back the next morning.
I'm going regardless, but company would be nice. Email me or post if you're interested or have questions. Tiffany

This is great fun! I think it's the 15th year they've done this. It's scheduled for Saturday 13 September. You launch from Avila and land at Pismo and all sorts of folks paddle it--the stand up guys, all manner of kayaks, the paddleboard folks. It's a blast and the money raised goes for a good cause--the Junior Lifeguards. There's usually a raffle for neat stuff at the end when everyone reconvenes back at Avila. Victor, Doug, and I are definitely in again. Who else?! The surf launch at Avila is no big deal and there are folks at the end at Pismo to help with the surf landing. Doug and I did our first Harmount 2 months after we started kayaking and we managed it fine--it's only water, right?
If you want more details and how to register, contact Paul at Central Coast Kayaks, 773-3500. We can paddle as a group--let's all get out there!

Hey all,
There's a canoe and kayak race on Sunday 8 June at Baywood to benefit the Morro Bay High Cross Country Team. The race is held in conjunction with Junefest. You sign up the day of the race and it costs $7 per boat. It's a 1 mile course around the bay. They are working out the start time so I will post back with that later. This sounds like a ton of fun and I'm planning on doing it! Who else is going to be there?!

| h2onissa | Elkhorn Slough Full Moon Paddle? (page: 1 2) | 25 | Apr 14 2008, 12:19 AM EDT by h2onissa | |||

Rey and I have been discussing a full moon paddle at the Slough and we're looking for feedback from anyone else who may want to go and which dates might work for all.
Starting with March, the full moon weekend is the 21st through the 23rd, with a full moon on the 21st. Easter is the 23rd. In April, the full moon weekend is the 18th through the 20th, with a full moon on the 20th. We figure a paddle within a day or two of the actual full moon would work. Rey also suggested making a complete weekend out of it by heading to Monterey the next day and paddling somewhere up there, also. Is there anyone else interested in joining us for any or all of the weekend? There are a lot of different approaches we can take in planning this so if you'd like to go, please respond to this post, or email me, and we can start figuring out the details. The dates above are not set in stone, we can look further out, but the closer to summer we go, the higher the likelihood of fog. Let's make a plan y'all--this'll be fun!

| WkndWarrior | San Antonio Lake Paddle Saturday 16th | 0 | Feb 2 2008, 11:51 PM EST by WkndWarrior | |||

Thread started: Feb 2 2008, 11:51 PM EST
Watch
For those interested, Betty Tegner & Mike Baird (both members of CCPN) are planning a Saturday trip w/ their Yahoo Group on Feb. 16th for North Shore at San Antonio Lake. The goal is to enjoy a leisurely paddle east with opportunities to spot Bald Eagles, Osprey and other birds. Should be a great time and those interested are encouraged to join us. Here are some of the details that Betty has outlined for that day which include directions and entrance fees.
Meet at the Pleyto Ramp, which is the furthest boat launch ramp to the left (West) of the entry station. Launch time is promptly at 10am, so plan to arrive at the launch site between 9:30 and 9:45. You will need to pay a fee at the entry station kiosk of $14.00, which includes park entrance, parking, and one kayak. Be prepared with small bills in case the kiosk isn't manned when you enter. Bring your lunch and water. Bring a jacket as mornings are often cold. The paddle is cancelled if 50% or greater chance of rain or high winds are predicted. Driving directions: Drive North on 101 past Bradley, then take exit number 252, marked Jolon Road, Hunter Liggett. Drive under the freeway (left) and then continue straight ahead on Jolon Road for about 10 miles. Then turn onto New Pleyto Road, which is signed to Lake San Antonio, North Shore. The campground is about four miles from there. The usual disclaimers apply. Participants are required to wear Coast Guard approved PFD's and must be able to perform unassisted self-recovery from a capsize. Organizers assume no liability or responsibility for you. You alone assume full responsibility and liability for your actions if you participate. All new participants should read our orientation page at http://kayak.morro-bay.com. **If you have any questions feel free to email me. So far Richard and myself are set to join them that day. If you'd like to meet up with us or just follow us out, let me know. See ya on the water!!
